16 August 2011, 12:40

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 37-year-old man was robbed just after using a cash machine in Southampton.

It happened on Saturday, August 13 between 10.20 and 10.40pm after the man used the cashpoint at the Royal Bank of Scotland in London Road.

After withdrawing money he walked up the Inner Avenue and then when close to the church he was pushed to the ground by two men who demanded cash. The victim stood his ground and the two men made off, however the victim is now missing his
black Blackberry Curve mobile phone.

The two robbers are described as:

Man 1: White, aged about 25, blonde hair, 5ft 8 inches tall and small build. He was wearing a black Adidas tracksuit top with the 3 white stripes running down the arm and dark blue jeans. He was carrying a silver motorcycle type chain.

Man 2: White, aged about 25, short dark brown hair, 5ft 10 inches tall and small build. He was wearing a plain dark coloured jacket, possibly blue and dark blue jeans.

Police are appealing for witnesses to this incident, particularly a group of females who were around the cashpoint at this time and allowed the victim to use it. It is believed the two robbers were also in this area and used the cashpoint
after the victim.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Shirley CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
