A man has been hurt after falling from an upper-floor window at a building site in Romsey.

The man, in his 40s, landed on some scaffolding below, at The Hundred yesterday morning (Thursday 23 January). He had to be rescued by a specialist ambulance team.

A South Central Ambulance Service spokesperson said:

"South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust were called yesterday at 10:04 to The Hundred in Romsey to reports of a male that had fallen from a height onto some scaffolding below.

"We sent an ambulance crew, ambulance officer and a co-responder to the scene to treat the patient, believed to be a male in his 40s.

"Due to his difficult location our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) were called in to assist in the treatment and rescue of the patient who, once rescued from the scaffolding, was taken to Southampton General Hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening."

Hampshire Police were also called out, and have referred what happened to the Health and Safety Executive for investigation.
