Man Badly Hurt In Portsmouth Attack

Police are appealing for information after a man suffered serious injuries in an assault in Portsmouth.

The 40-year-old and another man were walking down Chichester Road, North End, around 6.30pm on Tuesday, January
11th.

As they neared the Lord Chichester Pub, a third man approached and assaulted the victim with a blunt instrument.

He suffered severe facial injuries, including a suspected fractured skull, and bled heavily as a result of the assault.

He managed to get away and call an ambulance and police and now being treated at the Queen Alexandra Hospital.

The suspect is believed to have made off from the scene on a bike towards Kingston Road.

Detective Constable Chris Dinenage from Portsmouth CID said: “I’m appealing for anyone who witnessed this attack or has any information that may help us.

“It was a violent and pre-meditated assault that has left one man with serious injuries. We believe the victim and the offender are known to one another.

 “We won’t tolerate this behaviour on the streets of Portsmouth.

 “We’re following up a number of lines of enquiries. If you know anything about this incident please contact Portsmouth CID so the offender can be brought to justice.”
