Man Arrested Over Southampton Sex Attack Bailed

Southampton detectives have bailed a man arrested after a 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted near Southampton Common.

Police in Southampton arrested the 31-year-old local man at about 7.15am on Wednesday morning (28 August) at an address in Howard Road and he was questioned at Southampton Central police station.

He must report back to Southampton Central police station on November 4.

The girl was sexually assaulted near Lovers' Walk at about 11.40pm Tuesday 20 August, after parting from a friend near the university.
 
Detectives also renewed their advice to women to avoid unlit, secluded areas at night, to be accompanied to their homes by a friend or to take a taxi home.
