Hit And Run Treated As 'Homicide Investigation'

A man's death in a hit and run in West Sussex could be treated as manslaughter or even murder.

Officers received a report of a hit and run incident in Rowan Way, Bognor, just after 10pm on Monday 13th May.

The injured man, 20-year-old Charlie Hancock, of Nyetimber Lane, Pagham, was taken to St Richards Hospital, Chichester, where he died in the early hours of the morning. Police are in liaison with his family.

A 41-year-old local man, believed to be the driver of the car, was arrested for grievous bodily harm at the time.

But police say following Mr Hancock's death - this is now being treated as a homicide investigation by Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, working in conjunction with colleagues in West Sussex Division.
