Hampshire Police are appealing for information after a blue and gold Macaw parrot was stolen from Birdworld.
Spike is blue and gold and is thought to be worth about £1,000.
He was taken some time overnight between 6.20pm on Saturday, July 23 and 7.30am on Sunday, July 24.
The thief broke into the attraction in Farnham Road and stole the bird from a padlocked enclosure.
PC Paul Atkinson said: "This is a particularly upsetting crime for the staff of Birdworld, and although Spike is not a rare breed, it is likely he has been stolen either to order or will be offered for sale privately.
"Spike's mate Sam, who was not taken, has now been left to tender to their recent clutch of eggs. If you have been offered a similar bird for sale or know anything about this incident, please contact me."
Spike is micro-chipped and has an identification ring on his leg.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Atkinson, at Alton police station, on 101 or via the website www.hampshire.police.uk/internet/contact/message_officer.htm
