Hunt For Man After Southampton Stabbings

Detectives investigating a multiple stabbing incident in Southampton on Tuesday May 8, are issuing an image of a man they urgently want to speak to.

He was seen briefly near the Alexandra pub in Bellevue Road. This dark skinned man, who had his left hand covered in a plastic bag, was seen to walk to the pub at around 11.15pm just before the pub was closing.  Almost immediately he turned around and left the area.

The image, which is not very clear, shows a man wearing a distinctive striped top and light coloured trousers.

Detectives urgently want to speak to him as he may be a potential witness or further victim of the events in nearby Cranbury Avenue where four people were stabbed in what officers are keen to stress was a targeted attack.

Officers would also like to speak to anyone who was in the general area of Cranbury Avenue between 10.30 and 11.45pm on Tuesday evening, as well as around the Alexandra pub area as they may well have seen or heard something that could be vital to the investigation.
