The family of a motorcyclist who died in a crash on the A3 have paid tribute to him.
Alan Hellyer died after his motorcycle collided with a Vauxhall Astra near the Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Friday, September 9.
Mr Hellyer, 55, of Wakefords Way, Havant, suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement, his family said:
“Alan passed away in an accident on the A3 on the evening of September 9.
"He was returning home after visiting his Mother, Yvonne, in Petersfield hospital when his motorbike was hit by a car – he died instantly.
“Alan was a special person who lived with his only daughter, Abbie-Louise, 15, with whom he regularly played golf. He also loved fishing, classic cars and visiting the Isle of Wight.
“His life was one of helping others; he was devoted to his daughter, a dutiful son and a loving brother to Adrian. He was certainly loved by everyone who knew him and will be remembered for the smile he always had on his face.
“He is sorely missed by Abbie-Louise, Yvonne, Adrian and Simon and his ex-wife, Linda, as well as other family and friends.”
The Astra driver, a 22-year-old woman from Havant, and passenger, a 31-year-old man from Waterlooville were uninjured.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. She was bailed until December pending further enquiries.
Police are continuing their appeal for witnesses.
