Police at Southampton are seeking witnesses to a serious assault which left a man with bruises and grazes to nearly every part of his body.

At about 12.15pm on Tuesday 16 July, a 44-year-old Southampton man rang police to say he was driving and being followed by another car. In South Road, the victim’s car was stopped at the junction of Priory Road. The victim was dragged from it by six men, all of whom allegedly assaulted him.

Six Southampton men have been arrested on suspicion of assault. All have been bailed, pending further enquiries, until 7 October.

PC Victoria Blake is appealing for witnesses:

“This serious assault is a rare occurrence. At the time of the incident, many people are likely to have been in the area. If you witnessed what happened, the police need to hear from you.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Blake at Southampton Central on 101.
