Dog Walker Assaulted In New Milton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted at Ashley Recreation Ground near New Milton on Sunday, January 23.

The 55-year-old man was out walking his dog when the incident occurred at around 3.15pm.

The man was allegedly punched in the face and knocked to the ground by another man. It is believed the incident occurred after the two men’s dogs came together.

The 55-year old sustained minor injuries to his neck, head and thumb.

Police are keen to speak to the other man believed to be involved in this incident. He is described as:


in his 30s

5ft 8 ins tall


shaven head and stubble

wearing dark clothes and high black wellington boots

and carrying a grey shoulder bag.

The man had a white dog, which was thought to be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, with him at the time.

PC Chris Barrow said: “This incident occurred in broad daylight at the recreation ground near to Ashley Hotel. If you were in the area that day and witnessed this incident, or have any information about the man described, then please contact police.”
