Cash Box Stolen From Chandlers Ford Bank

Detectives in Eastleigh are investigating the theft of a cash box which was being delivered to the HSBC bank in Winchester Road, Chandlers Ford.

It happened at around 9.42am this morning (Thursday, November 24th).

A G4S courier was making a delivery to the bank when a man wearing a balaclava ran up to the courier and demanded he hand over the cash box.

The courier released the box containing an undisclosed amount of money and the offender ran back to an awaiting silver car which sped off.

The courier wasn't hurt and no weapons were seen or used.

The vehicle drove off along Bournemouth Road and was later recovered by police a short distance away in Shaftsbury Avenue, off Chalvington Road, with the cash box inside.

Detectives have sealed off two areas, one around the bank and another around the vehicle while they search for any forensic evidence.

Anyone with information should contact the District Investigation Team at Eastleigh police station on 101 or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
