Another Armed Robbery At Hampshire Bank

Armed robbers have targetted another bank in Hampshire while security guards were delivering cash.

The robbery happened between 10pm and 10.25pm, at Santander in Eastmead, Farnborough when two men wearing balaclavas robbed two Group 4 Security guards delivering cash to the branch.

One of the offenders was armed with a sledgehammer and the other offender had an angle grinder. There were no firearms involved.

One of the security guards was assaulted by one of the offenders but was uninjured.

The offenders made off with a quantity of cash in what is believed to be a white Vauxhall car. This car is believed to have been bearing false registration plates and detectives are keen to hear from anyone who may have had their number plates stolen.

DS Karen Lillywhite, said:

“I am really keen to hear from anyone who has had number plates stolen or has found that their plates have been tampered with.

“We’re still trying to trace the vehicle used in the robbery, believed to be a white Vauxhall, and anyone who may be able to help with this is asked to contact us as a matter of urgency.

“Any scrap of information, no matter how small, could help us so please get in touch.”

“I’d also like to reassure residents that this was a very rare incident for Farnborough and we are working very hard to find those responsible.”

The raid is similar to others at the end of last year at banks in Havant, Fareham and Chandlers Ford, but police say at this stage they're 'keeping an open mind' as to whether the latest one was committed by the same gang.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Karen Lillywhite at Aldershot Police Station on 101.
