Arrests After 92-Year-Old Man Beaten And Robbed

Two men have been arrested after a 92-year-old man was attacked and robbed in a Southampton street.

Police at Bitterne arrested the men, aged 18 and 29, on the morning of Thursday 15 August.

They remain in custody at Southampton Central police station.

Detectives believe the victim was followed from Barclays Bank, Portswood Road, on Tuesday 6 August - where he withdrew £500. He was then assaulted near Shaftsbury Avenue and robbed. 

The man, who is partially-sighted, required surgery to repair damage to an injured hand.
