Taxi Driver Attacked In Bordon

Police in East Hampshire are appealing for witnesses after a taxi driver was assaulted.

Between 4.30 and 4.30am on Sunday October 16, a taxi driver from Portsmouth picked up five men who wanted to go to Bordon.

Whilst he was dropping off the men on Bordon Road, at the junction with Tesco's, they became aggressive and refused to pay for their journey.

One of the men hit the driver repeatedly on the head. His mobile phone was also stolen, along with the phone cradle.

The driver, a 59-year-old from Portsmouth, was taken to the Royal Surrey hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

The men are described as:

Front passenger

-White

-18-19 years old

-5ft 8 -10 tall

-Fair hair with tight curls

-Skinny build

-Wearing a light coloured jumper, maybe zipped, clean shaven, dark coloured trousers

 

Back passenger (who got out of the taxi at Whitehill)

-White

-18-19 years old

-6 ft 3 tall

-Black hair

-Stocky build

-Wearing blue jeans, and a dark jacket

 

Second back passenger

-White

-Around 5ft 8 tall

-Dark hair

-Smartly dressed, wearing a grey coat

 

Passenger behind driver

-White

-Around 5ft 8 tall

-Short, dark hair

Detective Constable Ian Turner is investigating:

 "This was a nasty assault on a taxi driver, who thankfully wasn't more seriously injured.

"He has given us some good descriptions of the men and so we feel certain that someone will know who they are."

He added: "I'd like to hear from anyone who has information which could help our investigation."
