The Edinburgh Dungeon is a unique visitor attraction that brings together an amazing cast of theatrical actors, special effects, stages, scenes and rides in a truly unique and exciting walkthrough experience that you see, hear, touch, smell and feel. It's hilarious fun and sometimes a bit scary.

Your 80 minute journey will take you through 1000 years of Scotland's dark history. Guided by a full cast of actors, you and your companions walk through The Dungeon, moving from show to show. Shows are based on real Scottish history (minus the boring bits). You'll get up close and personal with local legends including William Wallace and murderers, Burke and Hare.

It's a fully themed experience. That means 360° sets, full on authenticity and theatrical storytelling. On your journey you'll pass through the caves of the hungry Sawney Bean and the NEW Street of Sorrows show; Edinburgh's famous underground that’s full of rats, fire and the plague! 

Street Of Sorrows: the true story of Edinburgh’s underground plague close, takes guests back to 1645 when the plague was rife in Edinburgh. They meet the Foul Clenger who is working hard to clear houses of the dreaded plague.

This summer they launched Carnivale, bringing with it all things funny and frightening as a big top full of thrilling tales lands at the Dungeon. Playing host to a collection of wonderfully dark circus stars, the Dungeon’s exciting new celebration, Carnivále, launched on 27 June. In the centre of Scotland’s capital city, it promises to separate the brains from the brawn and the bold from the bashful … if you’re game? With the Dungeon’s usual injection of cheeky humour and thrilling new special effects, join the ringmaster and his cast of colourful characters throughout July and August as they produce splendid, spectacular and show-stopping scary fun.
