SNP To Vote On Nato

The SNP will decide whether they will back joining Nato should there be a Yes vote in the Independence referendum.

The party have had a long standing opposition to joining the military alliance.

But the party's leaders now think it would be beneficial, providing they can get rid of nuclear weapons.

A motion has been tabled by SNP defence spokesman Angus Robertson, who warned last night that withdrawing Scotland from Nato would be like ``pulling the plug on the radar'' protecting the North Sea.

``Everything that is around Scotland turns into a black hole where we have no idea what's going on, and that worries our neighbours intensely,'' he said.
