A police officer is being treated in hospital after being knocked down by a car he had stopped as part of an inquiry.
The 29-year-old male officer suffered a leg injury and is said to be in a stable condition following the incident in Ness Drive, East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, at around 8.30pm on Wednesday.
Police Scotland said the officer had approached an Audi A4 to speak to the occupants when it was allegedly driven at him.
A 38-year-old man has been arrested over the incident.
He is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: ``Police approached an Audi A4 car in Ness Drive, East Kilbride, and whilst carrying out inquiries, the driver of the car allegedly drove at a male officer before driving off.
''The 29-year-old officer was taken to Hairmyres Hospital where he is currently being treated for a leg injury. Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.
''The Audi car was traced a short time later and a 38-year-old man was arrested and detained in police custody in connection with the incident.''
