Police Help Students To Keep Safe
25 September 2014, 05:00
It's hoped a safety campaign - aimed at 16-25 year olds - will reduce the number of victims of crime.
It'll run for four weeks, and is aimed at keeping both new and returning students safe.
It features an eye-catching booklet and washroom posters, which will be displayed in student venues and retailers.
Online advertising and digital screens at student campuses will also be used to promote the Keep Safe message.
Superintendent Daniel Hatfield of Police Scotland Safer Communities Department said:
'Starting University or college means some huge life changes. Police Scotland wants to support students in embracing student life, by providing advice on how to avoid becoming a victim of crime.
'Getting the personal safety message across to students is extremely important as many may be moving away from home for the first time.
'Police Scotland wants to make sure students have a safe and enjoyable time in our towns and cities.'
Students are also being urged to log on to www.scotland.police.uk for more information on this campaign.
