Man In Court Over Pensioner's Murder

A man has appeared in court charged with murder following the stabbing of an elderly man in Glasgow.

John Baker, 76, died following an incident in the Calton area in the early hours of Wednesday last week.

Peter Telfor, 24, was charged with murder when he appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

He also faced charges of assault and robbery and assault with intent to rob, the Crown Office later confirmed.

Telfor, from Glasgow, made no plea or declaration during the hearing. He was remanded in custody and the case was continued for further examination.

He is expected to return to court on July 12.
