Man Dies After M8 Crash

A man has died after his vehicle hit a motorway barrier in an early-hours crash.

The incident happened on the westbound M8, near Livingston, West Lothian, at around 1.15am on Saturday.

The 34-year-old man was seriously injured when the Mitsubishi L200 he was driving collided with a nearside barrier and came off the road.

Despite the best effort of rescuers, he died a short time later, Police Scotland said.

Officers shut the road for around five hours so that collision investigation work could be carried out.

Anyone with information about the crash is being asked to contact police.

Sergeant Andy Gibb said: "Sadly, a 34-year-old man has died as a result of a road traffic collision on the M8 during the early hours of Saturday May 14.

"Our thoughts are with his family at this extremely difficult time and we will continue to provide them with support as and when they need it.

"Our inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding this collision are ongoing and I ask anyone who was travelling on the M8 at around 1.15am on Saturday to contact us immediately.''
