Police have arrested a 50 year old man over the attempted abduction of two girls near a play park in Falkirk.

The pair were playing in Hallglen last night when he apparently asked for help to look for his jacket in nearby woods.

Officers were called to the Glenburn Road area of the town at around 4.50pm on Friday.

A police presence remains in the area but officers say they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.

Inspector Jo Jollie said: ''We appreciate that this was a very concerning incident for the local community and we are treating this with the utmost seriousness.

''I'd urge anyone who was in the area around this time that hasn't spoken to officers and may be able to help with the investigation to contact us.''

The 50-year-old man is due to appear in Falkirk Sherriff Court on Monday 22 May‎.
