Two children who have gone missing together in Aberdeenshire are being sought by police.

Aimee Wheelhouse, 13, and 12-year-old Elliott Lister were last seen at Banff Academy at around lunchtime on Monday.

Police said the disappearance is out of character for the pair and that concern is growing for their safety.

Anyone who thinks they may have seen the youngsters, who are believed to be in each other's company, is being urged to contact officers.

Aimee is described as 5ft with long straight brown hair. She was last seen wearing black trousers, a white shirt and a black fur-lined jacket.

Elliott is described as having a thin build, with short brown gelled hair, and was last seen wearing a grey hooded top with a diamond motif, a white shirt, school tie and black trousers.

Sergeant Scott Massie said: ``It is out of character for Aimee and Elliott to remain out overnight without telling anyone and as such there is growing concern for their well-being.

``If anyone believes that they may have seen Aimee or Elliott, I urge them to contact Police Scotland on 101.''
