The driver of the bin lorry which crashed in Glasgow killing six people has appeared in court charged with dangerous driving and driving without a licence in the months following the incident.

Harry Clarke was arrested in September last year over alleged road traffic offences.

The 59-year-old appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday charged with culpable and reckless conduct under section 94 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, the Crown Office said.

The section covers driving after the refusal or revocation of licence and the charges relate to alleged offences between May 12 and September 22 last year.

Clarke, from Baillieston, Glasgow, made no plea or declaration and was released on bail.

Six people died in December 2014 when the refuse lorry lost control in Glasgow city centre.
