The BRIT Awards nominations will FINALLY be announced this week, and Capital have selected our top picks for the stars WE predict will be successful at this year's awards ceremony. From Jessie J to Rudimental... see who OUR nominations picks are!
If there's one name that seems to be on EVERYONE's lips for this year's BRITs predictions is these four gentlemen. Their debut album 'Home' has been a critical and commercial smash, they're rarely out of the charts with their near-constant stream of hits AND it seems like everyone wants a collabortion with the Rudimental boys! Cheque please! Picture: Derek Bremner
The 'Best Song Ever' boys have (obviously!) had a hugely successful past twelve months of their career... touring all OVER the world, releasing their THIRD album (can you believe it?) and releasing their own Hollywood movie! Surely the boys deserve a reward for all their hard work??
After enjoying massive success across BOTH sides of the pond over the past year, Ellie has remained a chart heavyweight ever since the release of her second album 'Halcyon'. Add to that a string of hit singles like 'Anything Could Happen' and 'Burn', an album release AND a massive team-up with Calvin Harris... and you'd be crazy to count out Ellie at this year's BRITs!
Despite having four previous nominations to his name AND being one of the most prolific male solo stars in the UK, Olly has yet to take home his very own BRIT Award. After making waves in the US with a number of singles (and appearance on teen drama 90210), could 2014 be Olly's year? Picture: ITV
As one of the BIGGEST dance acts on the planet right now, you can't count Calvin out of success at this year's BRIT Awards after basically owning the Vodafone Big Top 40 chart in 2013 with hits ranging from 'I Need Your Love' with Ellie Goulding to his latest team-ip with Alesso and Hurts on 'Under Control'.
Homegrown BRITs hero (she won the Critics' Choice prize back in 2011) Jessie J should expect at least a couple of nods at this year's BRITs showcase thanks to the release of her 'Alive' tour and album! Bring it on Jessie! Picture: Danny North
Just like Rudimental, the Disclosure boys are another act who should expect BIG things at this year's BRIT Awards! From playing both the Summertime and Jingle Bell Balls for Capital to counting Katy Perry among their biggest fans, Disclosure are here to stay and it may just be time for them to splash out on an awards cabinet for their front room! Another UK act we expect to bring home the gold at the BRITs this year is four-piece Bastille, after scoring the MASSIVE 2013 hit 'Pompeii' as well as their recent nineties homage 'Of The Night'.
The 'Love Me Again' singer has arrived... and his time is now! With his debut album 'Tribute' finally out for fans to buy and constant critical praise from fans and peers alike, it seems a pretty sure bet that awards show success isn't far away.
Jesy, Perrie, Jade and Leigh-Anne managed to fit a hellova lot into 2013... from launching themselves to HUGE chart success in America to returning with second album 'Salute' back in the UK, the Little Mix girls deserve some recognition for their hard work.
Two of the British music industry's BIGGEST rap acts returned with a bang in 2013 with each releasing a brand new album! Dizzee arrived with his record 'The Fifth' in September, after a surprise team-up with BRITs darling Robbie Williams, while Tinie launched 'Demonstration' in November last year. Is that the sound of clanging BRIT Awards we hear??
International Female Solo Artist is the category to watch at the 2014 BRIT Awards as 2013 saw four of the BIGGEST female stars on the planet achieving huge success across the globe. With new albums dropping from Lady Gaga ('ARTPOP'), Katy Perry ('Prism') and Miley '(Bangerz') as well as Taylor's huge 'Red' world tour, which lady deserves the crown?
Of course you have to add into the mix Queen Bey herself... Beyonce! While the surprise release of her self-titled album in December is quite late for a potential BRITs nomination, the sales and fervour around the release speak for themselves!
The rap world got SCARILY good in 2013 thanks to some incredible new releases from these three American fellas! Eminem made a big impression with the long-awaited 'Marshall Mathers LP 2', Jay-Z FINALLY dropped 'Magna Carta Holy Grail' and Macklemore has been cleaning up on all those US awards shows!
International Male Solo Artist could be a bloody battle at this year's BRITs if these gents have anything to say about it. Our money may just be on Mr JT... he did release TWO albums in 2013 after all!
The return of Daft Punk in 2013 sent a much needed shot of adrenaline through the music world, while Avicii is STILL storming the charts with hit after hit from his debut record 'True'. Surely some BRITs gold isn't out of the question for these two acts?
