Demi Moore 911 Tape: 'She Smoked Something'

The audiotape of an emergency call pleading for paramedics to help actress Demi Moore as she apparently suffered convulsions has been released by officials in Los Angeles.

"She smoked something, it's not marijuana but it is similar to incense. She seems to be having convulsions of some sort," a female friend of Moore told an ambulance dispatch operator.

The unidentified caller, who telephoned for help at 10.49pm on Monday night, added: "She's semi-conscious, barely. She's convulsing."

Los Angeles fire department officials said portions of the tape recording had been edited for privacy and to remove references to specific substances.

A second unnamed friend of Moore's talks to the dispatch operator, saying the actress was "burning up".

"She's shaking, convulsing, burning up. I'm taking cold water and putting it on her back," the friend said.

During the 10-minute call as paramedics rushed to the gated mansion, Moore was apparently unable to talk.

The caller is heard to say: "Demi, can you hear me? Yes, she's squeezing my hand. She can't speak. She's convulsing so we're holding her down."

With the sound of confusion in the background an unidentified man at the mansion also talks to the operator.

The tape sheds the first official light on the emergency that sent Moore to hospital, and later to seek treatment for what her spokeswoman has described only as "exhaustion".

Her spokeswoman said: "Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health.

Moore, 49, separated from her 33-year-old husband Ashton Kutcher last November.

The actress, who has more than four million followers on her Twitter account as @mrskutcher, has not posted any messages since January 7.
