Lisa's Strictly Blog - On a high

To be honest, I’m still slightly in shock from how well we did on Saturday.

It went so well for me and Brendan. The score was fantastic and the judges comments were wicked! I think the difference is really because I went into it this week with a different attitude, I didn’t want to look back on Strictly as something I was nervous about, that I didn’t enjoy. I really wanted to enjoy it, to enjoy dancing for everyone and to get some decent comments from the judges and this week was the breakthrough for me. 

"Like birthday and Christmas rolled into one!"

The fact that in the same week we found out that the Capital Breakfast show was the biggest breakfast show in London and coming top in Strictly was like birthday and Christmas rolled into one!

Hopefully I’ll be going into the show this week with the same attitude, but it’s a completely different dance this week from the American Slow. The paso doble – well, it’s passionate, it’s aggressive and Brendan’s been telling me you can’t do a paso doble without having a completely confident attitutude - last week's show has really helped me boost my confidence!

"Been focussing more on my moves..."

Rehearsals have been going really well. I think as the weeks have gone on, Brendan and myself have got a much better understanding of each other. The days can get really long doing the Breakfast show and then hitting a rehersal studio afterwards. I’ve learnt to take a break more often, go for a coffee and then come back after 10 minutes and start again. I’ve been focussing more on my moves, on controlling how I move, and I think that was reflected in my scores on Saturday. All the contestants have gelled as the weeks have gone on too, and that helps!

I’ve also had loads of texts and emails from Capital listeners and it makes it SO worthwhile. I can get quite emotional reading some of the messages so I just wanted to thank everyone. Wish me luck for Saturday!
