Look out... here comes the North East's hottest new thing on the music scene!

On Saturday 3rd February, Soundwaves Music Competition will be coming to the O2 Academy in Newcastle, showcasing bands & singers of all different ages and music styles! Expect a mix of hit music, indie, electronic, rock and more! 
 
On the night, the top 13 acts will perform in front of record labels and heroes of the music industry in a bid to win a spot in the online grand finale! Capital Breakfast's Bodg and Matt will be down there hosting the night and getting involved in finding the next big thanggg in the North East's banging music scene. 
 
The acts that get through to the finale have the chance to win a UK tour, as well as a load of BIG prizes designed to bring as much coverage and music exposure to the overall winner! Rosie Porter is a singer/songwriter who loves performing to audiences but also relaxing by making music. She likes to take chart songs and make them her own, and can sing many genres of music.
 
 
This young singer/ songwriter who hails from Team Valley is 10 years old & loves to sing pop music!

A pop / R&B singer who takes inspiration from the greats such as Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston! Dom loves hit music through to older classics and writes all of his own songs!
 
Dom Soundwaves
 
With massive sing-along belters, full to the brim with soul and energy, the power he exerts through his vocal can only be attributed to a sort of super power. If the market has a gap for the Arnold Schwarzenegger of melody, the Sylvester Stallone of rhythm and the Chuck Norris of vocals, then Josh Newell-Brown is the hard-hitting, Alternative Folk-Pop artist to fill it.
 
The Violet Bunnies are a vocal harmony-led four-piece Americana/Contemporary Folk group bringing a distinct voice to a mix of covers and originals. They are based in Newcastle and regularly gig.
 
This four piece band deliver hard rock music consisting of hard hitting riffs, soulful lyrics and strong bass lines. Constantly striving to better their writing and live performance to provide only the best music possible.
 
Three piece alternative/punk band from Sunderland. They take their sound from influences such as Green Day, Blink-182 , The Misfits and Nirvana. They write their own material and are keen to share it with the community.
 
Erin Gallagher Smith has been singing for 7 years and sings anything from pop to musical theatre. She likes to make songs her own and likes to engage the audience. 
 
SW Erin

An energetic teenage pop punk band ages 15 - 16 from Newcastle upon Tyne. They formed in 2014 and have played in many iconic North East venues and festivals. They are previous Soundwaves finalists and were nominated Best Rock Act at last years Ubeat TV annual music awards. They play high energy covers and original material and are influenced by Greenday, Blink 182, and the Sex Pistols 
 
Silence Fiction are a male and female fronted post hardcore band mixing heavy riffs and soft melodies with one EP release and a second one in the works. Their live shows are high energy with a lot of crowd involvement and chanting chorus's.

Chants are a band from Newcastle Upon Tyne that combine indie rock'n'roll with modern tropical house and vapourwave. These guys influences include Two Door Cinema Club, Bloc Party, Ed Sheeran and Jason Mraz to name a few!

The Phosphenes are a post punk indie band from Newcastle that play a mix of originals and covers! These guys are unique to other bands as they bring a BritPop summer sound. 

 Palladium are a 5 piece prog rock band from Newcastle, they started off in college studying music and play a variety of originals and covers. Their influences include bands like Dream theater, rush, periphery, meat loaf and plenty of other rock/metal based bands.

Creating lyrically honest tracks coupled with elements of electro/dark pop vibes - Michael T Ogilvie began writing and producing from a young. Initially entering the performance industry as a dancer he independently released his original track 'Naive' in September of 2017 , through this he showcased not only his songwriting and production prowess but also his captivating live performance; appearing at major events all over the North of England.

Giraffes are a two piece indie rock band. Catchy rhythm and tingy drums from Hartlepool. 
 
Natalia is a singer hailing from Darlington! She runs her very own YouTube Channel and enters as much competitions, festivals and free open nights as possible to grow in confidence!
