Woman Sexually Assaulted In West Auckland

Sex Assault Oakley Green West Auckland

A woman in her 20s has been sexually assaulted in an alleyway in West Auckland.

The serious sexual assault happened just after midnight on Monday morning, 4th July.

Police were called to an alleyway off Oakley Green, West Auckland.

Witnesses reported concerns about a woman and a man in the alleyway and when police arrived they found the woman nearby.

The victim, who is in her early twenties was taken initially to her home address and then to Darlington Memorial Hospital, where she was found to have suffered minor injuries.
 
Two local men, aged 19 and 32 were arrested later that night in connection with the incident.

After being interviewed they have been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.
 
Det Sgt Andrea Pescod said;
"A number of people were in the area at the time and we believe some of them may have seen at least part of what happened.

Although we have made two arrests are enquiries are ongoing and we are keen to speak to anyone who has information which may help. I would urge them to call 101, quoting incident number 0001 of 4th July. "
