A 21-year-old woman's died and a man's been badly hurt in a quad bike accident in Northumberland.

Lyndsay Young died at the scene of the crash near to the Sandy Bay Holiday Park in North Seaton, Ashington on Sunday afternoon.

A 29-year-old man, who was airlifted to hospital, is said to be in a serious but stable condition.

Ms Young was from Ashington. Northumbria Police are appealing for witnesses.

A park spokesman said the accident happened outside of the holiday park boundaries, and the two people involved in the collision were not staying there.

Sgt Jason Ryder, of Northumbria Police, said: "We believe there were a number of people in the area at the time of the collision.

"I'd appeal for anyone who was there and who may have seen anything to contact police.

Lyndsay's father Mich Young said on behalf of the family: "Our daughter was beautiful and spirited, funny and caring. She had so much to offer and so much to live for. Our memories of her are precious. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten."
