Unemployment Up By 5,000 In The North East

The North East's the only region in the UK that's seen a rise in unemployment in the 3 months between January and March 2014.

New figures show there were 5,000 more people out of work compared to the previous 3 months.

The North East also has the highest rate of unemployment in the country, with one in 10 people without a job.

In total, there were 135,000 unemployed people in the region between January and March.

It's up by 9,000 compared to the same time in 2013.
