Sunderland Complete Hattrick Of Signings

Sunderland AFC have confirmed the signing of three new players.

French defender Valentin Roberge was the first to officially join the club.

The 25-year old put pen to paper on a three-year deal on Wearside, after his contract with Portugese side C.S. Maritimo ended last month.

Roberge began his career with French side EA Guingamp in 2006, before moving to Paris Saint-Germain.

The centre-back then had a spell in Greece with Aris FC for two years before moving to Maritimo in 2010.

Last season, he played 32 times for the Portugese side including games in their Europa League campaign.

Cabral from Swiss Super League Champions, FC Basel's also confirmed a move to Wearside.

The 24-year old midfielder's also signed a 3 year deal.

Cabral started his career at Swiss club FC Lausanne before moving to Basle in 2007.

He also spent time on loan in Spain at Sevilla Atletico in 2008, before returning to Basel the following season.

Cabral made 37 appearances in all competitions for FC Basel last season, helping the club to reach the semi finals of the UEFA Europa League

The final signing is defender Modibo Diakite (pictured) from Italian giants Lazio.

The highly sought after 26-year old, who began his career with Italian club Pescara, moved to the capital in 2006 where he spent seven years with Lazio, winning the Coppa Italia in 2009.

The Frenchman will link up with Sunderland's Head Coach Paolo Di Canio for the second time in his career having been former teammates in Italy.
