North East Police To Help Keep Olympics Safe

Nearly 700 officers from the North East will be helping police the London Olympics during the summer.

Officers from police forces across the country have been called on to keep the games safe.

Northumbria Police are sending the most officers to London with a total of 365.

Extra staff are also being brought into to police St James' Park when it hosts 9 matches for the Olympic football tournament.
