NEWCASTLE UNI SETS FEES AT £9,000

Newcastle University has announced its planning to charge a fee of £9,000 per year for new UK and EU undergraduates who start university in September 2012.

The uni say a proportion of the money generated from the higher fees will be spent extending their fair access initiatives, designed to give even more students the opportunity to study for a degree at Newcastle.

Up to a third of undergraduate students will benefit from financial support of £2,000 per year from 2012, with £29 million allocated to fee waivers and bursaries over the first five years.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chris Brink said: "Newcastle University has a solid foundation on which to build future success and we want to continue to attract the brightest and best students from all backgrounds to study here."
