Man Stabbed In Benton Road Rage Row

A 20-year-old man's been stabbed in the stomach after a road rage row in Benton, North Tyneside.

It happened outside Casa Antonio restaurant on Whitley Road in Benton between 7.30pm and 8.15pm on Saturday, February 14th.

The incident involved an altercation between two couples from separate vehicles. Following this a man was stabbed in the stomach with what is believed to be a screwdriver. The other couple then drove off.

The injured man was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary suffering from a puncture wound and kept in for treatment. His condition is not believed to be life threatening.

Officers want to speak to the man and a woman who drove off.

Police are carrying out enquiries in the area and additional officers are on patrol to reassure the community.

Officers are still trying to establish exactly what happened and are appealing for witnesses.
