Man 'Critical' After Being Hit By Car In Gateshead

A male pedestrian is in hospital in a critical condition after he was struck by a car in Gateshead.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision between a car and a pedestrian in Gateshead.

It took place at 7.44pm on Saturday and involved a 40-year-old male pedestrian on the slip road travelling from the Redheugh Bridge towards the A184.

It is believed the pedestrian was crossing the road.

He was taken to the RVI where he is still receiving treatment for serious injuries, his condition is described as critical.

The slip road was closed for two and a hald hours while the scene was investigated, local diversions were put in place.

Northumbria Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collision is asked to contact them on 101.
