Man Charged Over Middlesbrough Murder

A man's been charged over the murder of 61 year old John Coates, whose body was found at his flat in Middlesbrough.

The body of John Coates was found in Fleet House, Cargo Fleet Lane, Thorntree, on 13th September, after family members contacted police because they'd not seen him for days.

A post-mortem later revealed that he died of head injuries caused by a blunt weapon and a murder investigation was launched.

A 23-year-old man from the local area has been charged with murder and will appear at Teesside Magistrates Court on Monday.

He remains in police custody.
