Man Assaulted With Plank In Newcastle

After a man was assaulted with planks of wood in Newcastle, Police are appealing for witnesses.

It happened at 6.30pm on Tuesday, July 12 when the victim, a 27-year-old man, was assaulted with pieces of wood while waiting at the bus stop at Whickham View in Scotswood.

He suffered a broken arm and cut to his head during the assault.

The two offenders, one riding a bike, made off from the scene. They are described as white, aged between 15 and 17 years old, wearing dark hooded tops and bottoms.

DC Lara Huitson from Fenham and Scotswood CID team, said: "This was an unprovoked assault on a man waiting at the bus stop. He suffered serious injuries which required hospital treatment and we're making enquiries to trace the two offenders.

"Whickham View is a busy main road with residential and business premises in the vicinity of the assault and anyone who was in the area at the time who saw what happened or has information about who is responsible is asked to get in touch."
