Man Arrested Over Gun Incident

A man's been arrested after an incident involving a gun in Hetton-le-Hole, Houghton-le-Spring.

It happened on Friday night (27th January) just before 7:30pm when police received report of a man with what was believed to be a gun outside the Fox and Hounds pub in Hetton-le-Hole, Houghton-le-Spring.

Firearms officers attended and a 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence

An item, believed to be an air weapon, was recovered at the scene.

No one was injured in the incident.

Local officers are out in the area to provide reassurance
