Sunderland's National Glass Centre's one of six tourist attractions shortlisted to be named as the UK's best.

It's made it into the final of the Travel Writer's Tourism Awards following the centre's £2.3 million facelift over the summer.

Since reopening in June, the Centre has introduced several ambitious improvements, including a doubling of the exhibition space and a new audio-visual display and has welcomed over 60,000 visitors in the first two months.

The winner will be revealed at an awards dinner at The Savoy hotel in London on November 3rd.

Any tourism project opened within the past three years can be entered into the awards.

So can those reopening after major renovations.
