Coast To Coast Challenge For Whitley Bay Dad

21 July 2013, 07:03 | Updated: 30 March 2016, 13:50

A dad from Whitley Bay is taking part in his fourth Coast To Coast challenge to raise money for the Children's Heart Unit at the Freeman.

Ivan Hollingsworth's son Seb was born with a congenital heart defect and had to be treated by doctors at the Freeman's specialist heart unit.

Ever since, Ivan and his wife Nadine have been raising money for the unit.

This will be Ivan's fourth Coast To Coast challenge - and this year he's pushing himself even further.

The team will set off from Whitehaven today (Sunday 21st of July) and the challenge will end at Tynemouth's Longsands beach on Wednesday (24th July)

Ivan is hoping to raise £20,000 to add the £311,000 already raised to rebuild the playroom and play area at Ward 23 of the Children's Heart Unit.
