Arrests Made After Newcastle Casino Robbery

Two men have been arrested in connection with a robbery outside The Grosvenor Casino in Newcastle.

Police arrested two men aged 44 and 31 at addresses in Newcastle and Sunderland on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery.

They are currently in custody helping with enquiries.

The arrests are on connection with a robbery which happened at 3.50pm on Thursday, February 21st, outside Grosvenor Casino at Saint James Boulevard in the city centre.

A security guard was threatened with what was described as a shotgun before stealing a large amount of cash.

The guard wasn't hurt.

It's thought two vehicles were used in the incident - a white Audi Q5 with the registration NL61UDX, which was found a short time later on fire in Gateshead, and a grey coloured BMW 320 estate bearing the false registration NE08 VWG.
