RWC 2015 Newcastle tyne bridge

Newcastle's St James' Park is host to three Rugby World Cup matches. Check out this guide for the best way to get around.

 

 

 

Match days are;

South Africa v Scotland: Saturday 3rd October @ 4.45pm 

New Zealand v Tonga: Friday 9th October @ 8pm 

Samoa v Scotland: Saturday 10th October @ 2.30pm 

 

If you're driving;

 

The following roads will be closed on match days for 4 hours before kick off until 1 hour after final whistle. 

  • A189 Barrack Road; From Stanhope Street to Gallowgate Strawberry Place; 
     
  • From A189 Barrack Road to St James Street Pitt Street;
     
  • Between Barrack Road and Wellington Street;

 

The following roads will be closed on match days from 6am until one hour after final whistle.

  • St Andrew’s Street; From Gallowgate to Strawberry Lane Strawberry Lane; 
     
  • From Terrace Place to Gallowgate Terrace Place; 
     
  • From St James Street to its junction with Leazes Terrace 
     
  • Leazes Terrace; Its full length

Parking;

 

There is no dedicated spectator car parking at the stadium other than for blue badge holders. Instead use the following park and ride systems;

  • Newcastle Falcons; Once you're parked up, you can get the Metro from Kingston Park to Haymarket or Monument Station. 
     
  • Metrocentre Coach Park; From there bus services provide a direct link to the stadium 
     
  • Callerton Parkway Metro Station; £1 per vehicle. Then take Metro to Haymarket or Monument stations. 
     
  • Heworth Metro Station; £1 per vehicle. Then take Metro to St James station 
     
  • Northumberland Park Metro Station; £1 per vehicle. Then take Metro to St James station. 
     

Park & Ride spaces are limited so spectators are advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment 

 

If you're taking the bus;

 

Use Haymarket for services from Northumberland and the north 

Use Eldon Square for services from County Durham and the south 

These are located adjacent to each other on Percy Street, next to Haymarket Metro station 

 

If you're getting a taxi 

 

There is no set-down or pick-up allowed at the venue on match days 

Advise your driver to use the preferred set-down and pick-up points at Strawberry Lane/Gallowgate or the bus station and rail station.
