Man Critical After Darlington Assault

A man's in a critical condition in hospital after being assaulted in Darlington.

Officers discovered the man with a serious head injury in the alleyway between Hargreave Terrace and Park Place just before 11pm on Thursday night.

The man, believed to be in his late 30s, was taken to James Cook Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Darlington Neighbourhood Inspector, Caroline Dawson, said:
"We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area surrounding the Co-op Pharmacy and Wing-on Chinese takeaway between 8pm and 11pm on Thursday evening."

A police cordon is currently in place while crime scene investigators and officers continue to investigate this incident.
