Students From Darlington College Involved In Bus Crash

Emergency services are on the scene of a crash in Darlington involving a bus carrying students to the town's college.

The crash happened shortly around 8:40am on a road between Aldbrough St John and the road which leads to Piercebridge, near Darlington.

Some of the 20 students on board have got minor injuries, along with the bus driver.

The driver of the van's being treated for leg injuries.

In a statement, Darlington College have told Capital:
"Approximately 14 college students have been taken to hospital with injuries after the bus they were travelling in collided with a transit van at Aldbrough earlier today.

None of the students are thought to be seriously injured but they have all been taken to hospital. One of the students is thought to have suffered a broken nose.

The college immediately sent senior staff and support staff to assist students and support is ongoing this morning.

All the families of the students involved have been contacted and senior college staff are at the scene assisting with the emergency teams."
