Lisa's Strictly Blog - John Sergeant quitting Strictly
It's been a weird week, getting through the dance-off obviously was a huge relief, but it's all been overshadowed by John Sergeant leaving the show.
"John quitting the show was a real shock. I promptly called him, actually, I called Kristina first as I’m really good friends with her and asked if it was true, and then I tried to call John, to try to convince him not to do it actually. But the call went straight to voicemail and I think he’d clearly made up his mind already so you’ve got to respect his wishes.
Some people accused him of not putting as much effort in, but who’s to say he didn’t try as hard as everybody else? He’s not as capable, perhaps, as some of the other contestants, though I don’t think it’s very fair to say he didn’t put the work in. I just think he’s not as able to do as much of the stuff as everybody else is."
Meanwhile, it’s been business as usual following last weekend. I don’t really want to focus on the dance-off – it was really stressful, and I just want to get back to enjoying the dancing each week.
Brendan has been working me hard on the quickstep for this week’s show and it’s been going really well. I’m feeling really confident so it’s back with a blast on Saturday - see you then!"
