Oasis - Dig Out Your Soul
Our favourite Mancunian siblings have finally released the long awaited follow-up to 2005's Don't Believe The Truth.
The album kicks off with Bag It Up. A tune with trademark Oasis stamped all over it, from helter skelter drums, to the swaggering guitar riffs to the familiar twang of Liam's vocals.
Stand out track Falling Down is a bit of a diamond in the rough with its Chemical Brothers styled drum pattern matched with swirling strings. It quite simply showcases Oasis at their very best. Think Oasis circa their track Acquiesce and you've probably nailed it.
The Nature of Reality is a real swampy bluesy rock'n'roll stomper and is sure to be a real belter live.
Oasis aren't shy of wearing their influences on their sleeve and sure enough there's a little bit of The Beatles, The Stone Roses and The Rolling Stones scattered throughout this album.
You can't teach an old dog new tricks, but then at the same time if it ain't broke then why on earth fix it? Oasis have made a collection of tunes reflecting the sound that we know and love them for.
Dig Out Your Soul may not be a tale in genre-busting experimentation for the group as it treads a path well followed. But in time it's sure to be a classic for fans old and new and there's a bit of something for everyone in this box of tricks.
