  2. Jingle Bell Ball 2008

Jingle Bell Blog

It's absolutely manic backstage here at The O2, but we'll be bringing all the gossip, action and photos right here.

Rihanna - 10.30pm
What better way to finish the show than with music sensation Rihanna. Looking hot in a leotard, black boots and white jacket the petite pop princess desended upon the O2 stage in a giant metal cage. The twenty year old owned the stage and entertained the crowd with hits such as 'Don't Stop The Music', 'Take A Bow' and the phenomenal 'Umbrella'. As the confetti rains down upon the crowd, we hope those of you who were lucky enough to join us for the evening, agree that it was the Christmas party to end all Christmas parties!

The Saturdays - 10.30pm
The five gorgeous girls appeared on stage looking mysterious in their black cloaks which they soon whipped off to reveal some very sparkly outfits. Kicking things off with 'If This Is Love' the ladies soon had the crowd singing and dancing along.

James Blunt 10.10pm
It seems James has come to the Jingle Bell Ball dressed in his school uniform! But that doesn't mean he sound great. The former army officer performed some of his biggest hits including 'You're Beautiful' and 'Love, Love, Love.' You know what James - we love, love, love you!

Enrique Iglesias 10.00pm
The Latin heart throb gave one 95.8 Capital FM listener the experience of a lifetime by inviting her up on stage during his Jingle Bell Ball set, serenading her with an emotional performance of his smash hit 'Hero'. It'll certainly be a night to remember for her!

Anastacia 9.40pm
"Let's warm up - it's winter time" yelled Anastacia as she hit the stage. The blonde bombshell belted out her top ten hit 'Left Outside Alone' and closed her set with the song that kick started her musical career 'I'm Outta Love'. The Chicago born lady sure has a powerful pair of lungs on her.

Craig David - 9.30pm
Ladies steady yourselves it's the smoother than smooth Craig David. The Mobo Award winning singer had us all weak at the knees with his 2000 hit 'Fill Me In' and then grooving to the classic 'Seven Days'. Ever wondered how Mr David spends his Christmas day? Well, he has told us he likes nothing more than a microwavable turkey dinner. Yum!

Boyzone - 9.20pm
Everyone's favourite boyband opened the second half of our ball with their chart topping hit 'Picture Of You.' The boys were looking very dapper in their suits and sounding rather darn good too. It's good to see the boys again - we've missed them dearly.

The Interval
It may be time for ice cream out front but backstage things are busy, busy, busy. Sam Mann has been chatting to more of tonight 's performers and has yet more hot goss for us. First off, Will Young has revealed he is the running to be one of the X Factor judges next year. Who will he replace we wonder? Meanwhile, Irish band Boyzone told us they will be performing on the X Factor this Saturday and are jolly excited about it. Want to know who they're supporting? It's Irish boy Eoghan Quigg of course. Finally, James Blunt may look like the professional but in fact he wouldn't let his mum watch the show as she makes him nervous. Who'd have thought!

Will Young - 8.45pm
Will's been on stage and he's given a crowd-pleasing performance of his classic hits, 'Your Game' and 'Leave Right Now' plus his latest single, 'Grace'. He revealed he was pleased to making his first appearance at the O2 and was looking just as handsome as ever, wrapped up warm in his winter scarf.

Alphabeat - 8.40pm
Shock horror - lead singer Stine's lost her trademark blonde locks and gone for a new darker look. Other than that everything's business as usual with Alphabeat... catchy pop tunes with those irresistible harmonies. Altogether now 'Fascination... it just the way we feel'.

James Morrison - 8.30pm
James (the voice) Morrison has arrived on stage looking very like rock 'n' roll in his leather jacket and scarf. He was spotted earlier signing autographs for adoring fans. What a nice fella he is. The Devonshire born boy was also joined on stage with Sugababe Keisha for the touching ballad 'Broken Strings'. Lighters in the air people.

The P uss ycat Dolls - 8.10pm
Prepare for doll domination! The Pussycat Dolls have hit the stage dressed in red and black PVC. Now we know why all the dads offered to take the kids to this gig! These girls sure have the moves and lead singer Nicole most definitely has the voice. Their Christmas message to you "remember people always stay strong and be true to yourself." Amen to that ladies.

Gabriella Cilmi - 8.05pm
Aussie chick Gabriella has hit the stage and got things started with her smash hit 'Sweet About Me'. She was met with a very warm reception from the screaming fans. Looking all to cute in her white shift dress and beeds she finished the set with 'Warm This Winter' - well, you certainly kept us warm Gabriella.

Scouting For Girls - 7.55pm
If there's one band that can get the crowd singing along it's Scouting For Girls and they certainly didn't disappoint, leading the 15,000-strong crowd in renditions of their massive top ten hits 'Heartbeat' and 'She's So Lovely'. Best lyric of the day so far - 'I don't know... at the O2'... because that makes sense, right?

Lemar - 7.40pm
After the excitement of seeing Mr Barlow in the flesh (hello! FIT!), the UK's finest soul talent, Lemar took to the stage and thrilled the masses with his classic hit, 'Dance (With U)', before asking the crowd 'are you having a gooood time' - yes Lemar, we certainly are! He also treated us to a performance of his latest single, 'If She Knew' from his latest album, 'The Reason'.

Johnny & Lisa - 7.30pm
Breakfast hosts Johnny and Lisa come on stage to say 'hi'. Not only that, they introduced our very special guest of the evening. None other than Gary Barlow! He serenaded the crowd with 'Rule The World' and then told us he will spending Christmas at home with his wifey as she is expecting their third baby. Bless!

The Script - 7.20pm
The crowd have gone wild and there are lots of screaming girls. It can only mean one thing...The Script are about to come on stage. The Dublin boys kicked off their hit 'Breakeven.' The poor lads have had to borrow instruments from other bands as they lost theirs in Paris. Ooops!

Sugababes hit the stage - 7.10pm
The Jingle Bell Ball has kicked off in dramatic style. Sugababes burst onto the stage with their single 'Girls', all looking foxy in their little black dresses.

The curtain has gone up!

News flash! - 4.30pm

We've just heard that there is a very nasty smell coming from the Pussycat Doll's dressing room. They tell us it's the drains but we suspect there could be some girlband rivalry going on. Has someone planted a stink bomb?

Afternoon antics - 4pm
My god...it's mental in here! There are hundreds of people milling around, racks of amazing outfits which the artists will all be slipping into later and miles and miles of cables! Read more...
