Is it any good? Star Trek just got sexy! Forget the TV shows, forget the previous movies, forget it all. This is a clean slate, it is a reinvention, it is a revelation. You don’t have to know anything about the original TV show, the spin offs or the movies to get sucked in and blown away by this movie.

Star Trek is dragged kicking and screaming into the future with a new, younger, hotter cast; the names are the same - Kirk, Spock, Scotty, Bones, Sulu, Uhura, the USS Enterprise etc - and the villains are familiar - they are fighting the Romulans not the Klingons - and there is a cameo from original Spock actor Leonard Nimoy but otherwise this is a whole new take on the franchise that will appeal to moviegoers across the board.

The classic catchphrases are there, it’s funny (very funny), it’s loud (very loud), it’s fast paced and the action set pieces are completely and utterly breath taking (especially the spaceship fights and the space skydiving! OMG!) - this is everything a summer blockbuster should be.

Star Trek is a film that will delight fans and impress people who have usually steered clear of the franchise. A sequel is already in the works and this hasn’t even hit cinemas yet. Directed by JJ Abrams - the guy behind Lost, Cloverfield and Mission: Impossible III – this is out of this world. Jawdropping stuff. DO NOT MISS STAR TREK!
