Monsters vs Aliens
We're big fans of these computer animated films. Ok, it's aimed at a family audience, but sometimes you just want to switch off and enjoy yourself.
Who's in it? Reese Witherspoon, Kiefer Sutherland, Seth Rogen, Hugh Laurie
What's it about? A meteorite hits a girl, turns her into a giant monster, she’s taken to a secret compound where she meets a gang of monsters and together they help save Earth.
What type of film is it? Animated
Is it any good? If you can, catch this in 3D; if you can’t, then see it in 2D anyway. This is probably THE family film of the year so far and it’s one that has enough grown up (and by that I don’t mean rude) gags to ensure that adults enjoy this too. The script is razor sharp and the voice cast is spot one, the characters are developed
brilliantly and the animation is outstanding. The monsters and the aliens are comic-book freakish without being threatening or scary to kids – in fact they are more lovable than anything. Don’t watch MvA looking for hidden messages or deeper meaning, this is just a guilty pleasure and an exercise in showing Disney Pixar that other studios can do world class animation too. Very funny, very good and more than worth your time and money this half term.
