As she effortlessly displayed the breadth of her amazing vocal range, Adele drew a captivated Shepherds Bush Capitalive crowd into the palm of her hand.
It's sometimes hard to fully appreciate a new artist when their arrival is preceded by what seems like an endless amount of hype. But from the moment she pitched her first note on opening upbeat number Right As Rain , Adele lived up to her billing.
The intimate Bush Hall crowd were transfixed throughout. All eyes were pointing at the stage as Adele performed tracks from her new album. There were a couple of covers in there too, such as an amazing rendition of The Coral's Thinking of You which saw the crowd bouncing around the room.
And of course Adele delivered the singles which have earned her such admiration this year - Cold Shoulder was supported brilliantly orchestral bombast from her backing band. And Hometown Glory is just one of those songs which almost freezes time. - the Capitalive crowd stood stationary still as Adele performed this one, delicately wrapping her beautiful voice around the haunting piano chords.
However she save her number one selling single for last. The final track saw Adele swoop her vocals expertly around the mellow verses and big, ballsy chorus of Chasing Pavements, sending the crowd home happy.
